Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, Luis graduated from high school in the US in 1992. He holds an International Business degree from ULACIT, where he also pursued studies in Marketing before relocating to Ostional in 2008 amidst the financial crisis triggered by the US subprime mortgage market. He is the owner of the local business, Ostional Turtle Lodge.
